Kate Reynolds

Kate’s ceramic sculptures are often simple, pared forms. Some works are abstractions of the human image or profile, inspired by and developed from drawings of people and sometimes iconic human images from history or other cultures. She uses contrast and composition to make strong bold designs on her raku wall plaques. She enjoys the freedom of pouring glazes and the crackle effects on the surfaces, achieved by the Raku firing process. Kate has produced large scale ceramic commissions for internal and external settings and installations for schools and for private clients.

Trained at Suffolk College, Ipswich, Art Foundation; Brighton Polytechnic, BA in wood, metal, ceramics and plastics; Cardiff Institute, MA in Ceramics. Kate taught Art at Suffolk College for over 20 years and is now expanding her art practice and running workshops. She was an Artist in residence in Feb 2013 at the Ipswich school.
