Carol Pask

My work is of an abstract quality and evolves as a response to my environment, the forces of nature and the impact upon our environment. Shapes and patterns particularly influence me, these are then distilled into non-representational interpretations.

I work in stoneware and porcelain combining traditional methods to create contemporary sculptural pieces, which are often fused with, metal, wood or slate. The work is hand-built, with colour being derived from natural sources; this is achieved using oxides and traditional firing methods such as raku and smoke firing.

Biography
I have always lived in rural Suffolk, and my entire life has been immersed in the rhythms of country life, from where I derive much of my artistic inspiration. I studied Art and Design at Suffolk College Ipswich, Fine Art Practice at UCS Ipswich and Fine Art at Norwich University College of the Arts where I graduated with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art specialising in Sculpture.
